Portfolio Center understands that, where photography is concerned, knowledge and technique can only get you so far. Photographers must be visionaries and storytellers. The tools might change, but the philosophy stays the same.

You'll be taught by passionate, top-of-their-game professionals in a warm, intimate, state-of-the-art environment. You'll have opportunities to flex real-world muscle, as you collaborate with art directors, designers and writers on live projects. You'll also have access to a legendary network that includes the likes of Jay Maisel, Rodney Smith and Liz VonHoene.

Russell is a professional and commercial photographer, shooting everything from portrait and fashion to travel and food. Beginning his career in Brooklyn in 1986, he shot magazine features for outdoor, food, and travel magazines. His extensive client list includes National Geographic Adventure, Outside Magazine, The New York Times, Saveur, This Old House, Adobe, Major League Baseball, Cadillac, and Ford.

Russell enjoys helping students discover their individual strengths and passions as he pushes them to explore all the possibilities of the old and new imaging technologies because he believes passionately that this is the “golden age” of photography.
